Roundtable Discussion: The Governor's Vaccine Requirement

Event Description:
Governor Inslee has recently issued an executive order that directs starting on October 18th all state employees, certain contractors, and healthcare workers will have to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as condition of employment and/or working on certain state contracts. The operative language in the Governor’s order is whether an individual is having “any onsite presence in a workplace setting.” This requirement is also being picked up by other governmental entities and it is not unreasonable to believe the mandate will become more widespread.
The Governor’s language is vague at this time and ACEC Washington is working to obtain clarification as to the full impact of the Governor’s order. However, we also thought that it would be helpful for our member firms to have the opportunity to share information that they are hearing, to share ideas on how to plan for implementation of the order, and to ascertain where there are concerns that can be directed back to applicable state agencies.
